Cosmetic Dentistry

At the office of Dr Laura Mills, we are making Atlanta beautiful one smile at a time!

Your smile is the gateway to your personality, and usually the key to a great first impression.  Who do you trust to take care of your smile, and offer sound advice on how to maintain optimal oral health?  The first step in choosing a dentist is to realize that not all dentists are the same.

There are many excellent dentists providing general and family dentistry with services such as crowns, fillings, dentures, partials, root canals, etc.  However, if you are looking for ways to improve your smile, you want to seek the services of a dentist who focuses on and specializes in cosmetic dentistry.

Improving your smile is one of the most rewarding and life changing
decisions you will ever do for yourself!

Dr. Mills and her team will develop a treatment plan that will allow you to achieve the smile of your dreams in a time frame comfortable for your lifestyle.  Services include:

Teeth Whitening
One of the most sought after procedures in today’s society, teeth whitening is offered both in office and through take home whitening kits. Laser bleaching is a one or two visit process that allows you to take years off of your smile and lighten your teeth up to four shades.  This is more popular for those clients who do not like to wear custom bleaching trays at home.  More patients elect the take home lightening trays, which affords you the ability to lighten your teeth as often as you would like.  Impressions and stone models allow our lab to create custom bleach trays.  After your initial bleaching regimen, your long term home care is set to your needs and how easily your teeth respond to the treatment.

Porcelain Crowns and Veneers
A porcelain veneer is a thin layer of tooth-shaped porcelain that is affixed to the surface of your natural tooth to enhance the shape, color, length, or size of the tooth. Veneers are an excellent choice to enhance your smile. Porcelain veneers usually require 2 appointments and are fabricated by a dental laboratory. Porcelain crowns cover the entire portion of the tooth above the gum line, and is used to preserve as much of the natural tooth structure as possible.  Matching the shade of the porcelain crown or veneer to your adjacent teeth allows you to achieve an unnoticed result.

Cosmetic Bonding
Bonding is a process where composite resin is applied to a tooth, sculpted to an ideal shape, hardened, and then polished to a natural-looking luster. Bonding is completed by the dentist in 1 appointment. Bonding can be used to close gaps, whiten, lengthen, reshape, or straighten teeth. In our office, we utilize composite resin instead of amalgam, commonly known as a silver filling. It is our belief that composite resin is a better material than amalgam. Amalgam is a metal material that expands and contracts, which causes the tooth to fracture and leads to many unnecessary crowns. Composite is a resin material that actually bonds to the tooth, is tooth colored, and contains no mercury, as does amalgam.

Dental Implants
There are many options to replacing missing teeth, including: dentures, partials, and bridges. A dental implant is basically a screw that is placed into the bone and allowed to heal. Once it is ready, a tooth can be fabricated to sit on top of this screw. Dental implants can be used to replace 1 tooth, or all your teeth. They can be used individually, or to help stabilize a denture or partial. At this time, a dental implant is the closest thing we have to a natural tooth.

Snoring Relief, "Snore Guard"
Snoring makes many people irritable and bleary-eyed by the morning, and may also signal a more serious disorder called sleep apnea, a condition in which breathing stops many times throughout the night. A snore guard opens the airway, allowing more air to enter your lungs. It is an option for sleep apnea, will decrease snoring, and may help someone get a better night's sleep.
